Troy-D (USA): Imagination was and I think may still be the
only music artist or group to have a full
album of 'Dub' versions to be released to
the open public (meaning non-promo only)
in the United States. Most artists will release
revamped or extended remixes of previous
releases. Personally, I would have prefered
that type of set rather than the 'Dub' mixes.
Although Imagination's songs have always
been favorites of the DJ's for mixing, I don't
think the general public could possibly be
as appreciative. Therefore it might as well
had been 'Promo-Only'. I'm sure all of us
fans that wanted the collection would have
obtained a copy being how it was on a
major label. And only Fans and DJ's could
appreciate the extensive over-dubbing and
choppy-mixing of such good complete songs.
For me the only prize in this collection is
club standard 'Burnin' Up'. This was the only
song truly meant to be mixed to no end.
Plus this version was the first with more
lyrics. The collection is worth while for this
song alone. NY style club and house were
invented off of this song. I don't think that
Madonna could have had 'Vogue' in
1990, if Imagination hadn't given us the
piano-driven groove of 'Burnin' Up' in 1981.
